Discover Lake Tawakoni

Lake Tawakoni is one of North Texas's premier freshwater reservoirs, spanning a massive 36,700 surface acres with over 200 miles of shoreline. Built on the Sabine River and managed by the Sabine River Authority of Texas, the lake provides drinking water for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex while serving as one of the region's most popular recreational destinations.

The lake's average depth of 26 feet and maximum depth of 58 feet create ideal conditions for both fishing and water sports. Its expansive open water areas are perfect for skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, while countless coves and creek channels offer sheltered fishing spots and peaceful cruising.

Lake Tawakoni is nationally recognized for its blue catfish, channel catfish, and striped bass populations. Anglers also target largemouth bass, white bass, and crappie throughout the year. The lake consistently produces trophy-size catches, making it a bucket-list destination for serious and recreational fishermen alike.
